Prof. Jolanda van Hengel is heading the medical cell biology group. Her group focuses on the in vitro engineering of functional myocardium that mimics human heart tissue for analysis of myocardial function. Also her group tries to obtain a suitable stem cell type for in vitro meat production.
Prof. Karen De Clerck is Full Professor at the Department of Materials, Textiles and Chemical Engineering at Ghent University. She is head of the Centre for Textile Science and Engineering (CTSE) and group leader of the Advanced Fiber Materials Research Group. She is an expert in the production, characterization and application of advanced fibrous materials.
Prof. Jan Vanfleteren is a Principal Member of Technical Staff (PMTS) at Imec and a part-time professor at Ghent University. He is involved in the development of novel microsystem technologies, especially for wearable and implantable electronics, microfluidics, and tissue engineering applications.

Tom Coenye leads the Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Microbiology. His research is centered around microbial biofilm formation, the evaluation of novel strategies to prevent biofilm formation and/or eradicate existing biofilms, and the molecular basis of tolerance and resistance in biofilms.
Ruslan Dmitriev leads the Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials group at the Department of Human Structure and Repair, Ghent University.
Prof. Peter Dubruel was appointed Professor in Polymer Chemistry and Biomaterials at Ghent University in 2006. Since then, he has been heading the Polymer Chemistry and Biomaterials Group (PBM) at Ghent University.
Prof. Dr. Sandra Van Vlierberghe holds a guest professorship at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Brussels Photonics, VUB, Belgium) and a 100% professorship (BOF-ZAP) at Ghent University (Polymer Chemistry & Biomaterials Group, Belgium).
