    Thibaut Van Zele is a 100% head of clinic in the field of rhinology and endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery the UZ Gent ENT department. He is specialized in complex endoscopic sinus procedures and skull base procedures. His research focuses on the pathophysiology of inflammatory of chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyposis especially on differentiation of these condition based on inflammatory markers, and the impact of germs, specifically Staphylococcus aureus, on chronic inflammatory airway disease in sinusitis and asthma. He has a large experience with clinical trials with new therapeutic approaches for nasal polyposis and chronic rhinosinusitis and the development of new surgical techniques for chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyposis. In the recent years he is developing novel solutions with biodegradable materials for impaired wound-healing in chronic rhinosinusitis.

Associate professor in rhinology at the department of otorhinolaryngology. His research focus is on new surgical and medical therapies for inflammatory sinus diseases and wound healing.
