  • SUMMARY:
Generally, we apply nanotechnology tools for research in biotechnology. Herewith two lines of research are covered: (I) development of new bio-material based applications, and (II) development and application of advanced analytical microscopy-based methods for bio-medicine. In the area (I), (a) spherical (mainly polymeric and inorganic (carbonates)) drug delivery carriers are investigated in addition to developing planar polymeric and hydrogel coatings. In the area (II), we develop and apply novel analytical tools for characterization of cells, tissue, and biomaterials and these include: Raman microscopy for label-free vibrational spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM) for nanotopography and mechanobiology characterization, electron microscopy for high resolution imaging, holographic microscopy for label-free topography characterization, etc.
